A Mehfil Milad-un-Nabi function organised by Defence Society Residents Association (DSRA) was held at Defence Central Library in DHA Phase-II here on Monday in which overwhelming and fervent tributes were paid to Allah's last Apostle Hazrat Mohammad (Peace be upon Him).
In his keynote address, Dr Aamir Liaqat Hussain, a well-known Islamic scholar and TV moderator, said that the Holy Prophet was sent by Allah as a blessing for the entire mankind, a mercy unto the world and as the harbinger of hope for humanity.
He said that the Holy Prophet preached and practised love, tolerance and mutual respect as the golden principles of life, but unfortunately religious extremism and sectarianism have engulfed the society which needs to be eliminated "if we claim to be true followers of Islam".
He said that the Ummah has an obligation to present an example of civilised conduct in every aspect of life.
Dr Liaquat said that Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is an epitome of humanity and his life pattern provides the best possible example of a balanced and moderate conduct in all kinds of conditions.
He observed that Allah did not approach the mankind directly but through his beloved Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
He reiterated that the majestic Quran was revealed directly unto the heart of the Holy Prophet who had an impeccable and sterling character and was truly a 'Sadiq' and an 'Ameen'.
He emphasised that nobody could venture even to think that the path leading to God could be traversed except by sticking to the footprints of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (PBUH).
Admiral Sajjad Akbar, President of DSRA delineated the details of the community work undertaken by the Association for provision of best possible civic facilities/amenities to the Defence residents.
He added that cultural, social and religious functions were organised by DSRA as part of its programme to provide intellectually stimulating and culturally vibrant lifestyle to its members.
He also highlighted the problems of the residents and appreciated DHA for constructing Korangi Road of international standard with storm drainage provision and for undertaking the refurbishment and infrastructural repairs of old phases of Defence under a phased programme at an estimated cost of Rs 1.2 billion.
A large number of people including members of DSRA, former Navy chief Admiral Muzzafar Hasan and people from various walks of life attended the function. The function ended with special prayers for the welfare, solidarity and well-being of the country.-PR
